I started playing guitar at age 12, taking lessons off a guy named Matt. He taught me till I was about 14 then I continued on my own. At 15 I started learning drums because a local band needed a drummer. At 18 I started learning bass because I wanted to be Paul McCartney. At 19 I started learning keyboards but didn't really get very far (I can play Let It Be though!)
Rock n Roll
I've always liked rock and roll music, and since early 2007 I have been playing bass in a rock n roll group - The Wes Paul Band.
I've been in many bands over the years (see the 'My Bands' page) but rock n roll is my where my heart lies, so being in a band that plays rock n roll is a dream come true for me!
Music has been my passion for as long as I can remember. The first music I ever listened to was Elvis, then I discovered the Beatles, so I kind of did it in order of musical history. I do however like some modern bands like Oasis and The Libertines.
When I talk about rock n roll I mean: Elvis, Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, Little Richard, Eddie Cochrain, Gene Vincent, Jerry Lee Lewis - proper old fashioned 50s rock n roll. I am also a huge fan of The Beatles and Mersey Beat music, but anything past 1970 is a bit too modern for me.
